Gain insight into your opportunities, learn what it takes to build a successful career as a colour stylist, and determine whether the online or in-person course is the best fit for you!

  1. What is your reason for taking a Colour Stylist course?
    a. I am a hairdresser, makeup artist, stylist, or I work in a (clothing) shop and want to take my work to the next level.
    b. I work in a creative field such as photography or painting and would like to offer colour analysis alongside my current work.
    c. I have a different profession, such as an office job, and I want to learn something I truly enjoy.
    d. None of the above—I simply love colour and want to deepen my knowledge.

Answer: Anyone can train as a Colour Stylist! If you are a hairdresser, stylist, or makeup artist, this course will enhance your work. However, even if you have no experience in beauty or fashion, you can still become a colour stylist. You can practice this profession independently or as an addition to your current job. Many colour stylists focus exclusively on offering colour consultations.

  1. Does the role of Colour Stylist suit you?
    a. Do you love colour and fashion?
    b. Do you enjoy helping people look their best?
    c. Can you dedicate at least one to two hours per week to learning about colour and completing the course?
    d. Are you looking for a new challenge or want to learn something new?

Answer: The more ‘yes’ answers you have, the more likely it is that the Colour Stylist course is the perfect fit for you!

  1. Are you currently working in the beauty or fashion industry?
    a. No
    b. Yes
    c. Not yet, but I would like to

Answer: If you already own a shop or work in retail, you will have a ready-made client base. However, even if you don’t, you can still succeed as a colour stylist. Building a client base may take longer, but it largely depends on your enthusiasm and the quality of your consultations. If you provide excellent service, happy clients will recommend you to others.

  1. Which learning method suits you best?
    a. I prefer working independently and like to review materials multiple times.
    b. I am comfortable using a computer for learning.
    c. I learn best through hands-on practice.
    d. I enjoy studying alongside one or two fellow students.

Answer: Both the online and in-person Colour Stylist courses cover the same fundamental knowledge: the six main colour types. Online learning allows you to take your time and rewatch lessons as often as needed. In-person training provides the advantage of immediate feedback and hands-on practice. If you’re unsure which format suits you best, you can request a free online trial (link). Additionally, it is highly recommended to follow one or two in-person training sessions after completing the online course. You can purchase these in advance (Package C) or book them later.

  1. Are you willing to invest in high-quality materials?
    a. Yes
    b. No
    c. I would like to save up for them

Answer: High-quality colour drapes and colour cards are essential for conducting colour analyses. Without them, you cannot work as a colour stylist. The drapes help you determine a client’s colour type and demonstrate their best and least flattering shades. There are different options: start with a set of 10 key colours and expand later or invest in a complete set from the beginning. Additionally, colour cards are essential, as clients take them home to guide their shopping choices.

  1. Is colour analysis popular in your country or region?
    a. Yes
    b. No
    c. It is still quite rare

Answer: In countries like the Netherlands, colour consultations have been common for years, leading to a competitive market. However, in some regions, colour analysis is still a growing industry—often using only the four basic colour types.
If this applies to your area, you have an exciting business opportunity. The demand for colour analysis is rapidly increasing in regions like Asia, Eastern Europe, Italy, and Scandinav
ia.

  1. Can you travel to Rotterdam (NL) or another location in Europe?
    a. Yes
    b. No
    c. Maybe

Answer: Our in-person training takes place at our studio in Rotterdam, Netherlands. For larger groups, such as hair salons, on-site training in other European locations is possible.
If you are travelling from far, we take this into account when scheduling dates. Private lessons are also available, allowing you to choose your own training dates. Courses are offered seven days a week.
