Colour advice from AI: is that possible?

In short: no. Colour is energy, and it needs to be seen and experienced.

During a professional colour analysis, close attention is paid to the colour of your skin, hair and eyes, and the contrast between them. Specially selected colour drapes are then placed around you in very specific shades, allowing you to immediately see the effect on your skin, hair, eyes and overall appearance. Colour drapes and colour flags are essential in this process.

Simple methods such as using gold and silver drapes or looking at the colour of your veins offer very limited insight. You still won’t know which colours suit you best, which colour combinations work for you, and you miss the experience of discovering unexpected colours that truly make you shine.

A question we often get is: “Can you immediately tell what colour type someone is?” For some very clear colour types, the answer is yes. But even then, it’s important to carefully determine which shades are truly the most flattering. Personality, personal taste, profession and body shape also play an important role.

For most people, thorough exploration is needed, comparing different colour drapes. During a colour analysis, the differences become clearly visible: some colours emphasise lines, dark circles or imperfections, while other shades make the eyes sparkle and the skin appear more even. Clients notice this instantly themselves, often after the very first comparison, the reaction is: “Wow, this really makes a huge difference!”

Does gold or silver suit you better? This is something you learn during a colour analysis, but it is not enough to base a complete colour consultation on.

During a colour analysis, we explain which base colours suit you best, your most flattering shade of white (yes, this alone is a real game changer), your most beautiful accent colours, which gold and/or silver tones suit you, the best colours for your accessories, whether solid colours, prints, or multiple colours at once suit you best, make-up colours, hair colours, and so much more. AI simply cannot replicate this. We once even advised identical twins, where one sister looked radiant in warm colours, while the other looked better in muted tones. That is how refined and personal a colour analysis is.

This is also what makes a colour analysis so enjoyable: it is a special experience where you learn so much and see yourself through different eyes. You feel inspired to create new colour combinations, to invest in clothing you will truly enjoy wearing, and to return to your wardrobe with renewed energy. Often, you already own many beautiful items, it’s only after the analysis that you discover how to combine them effectively.

Most people only have a colour analysis once in their lifetime, so it’s important that it is done properly with a personal approach.
